Our design team combines a command of today’s building techniques with a comprehensive understanding of traditional building and a deep love of history. We provide architectural design and computer aided drafting services utilizing CADWORK® design software specifically crafted for timberframing. We produce detailed structural drawings for permitting and construction purposes, draft assessment diagrams, as well as three-dimensional design concepts and walk-through videos to help Clients visualize their new structure before the first stick is ever cut.
As historians and timberframers first, our understanding of the craft of building is based in its cultural, historical, and social roots, forms, and significance. Such understanding enables us to craft appropriate preservation approaches to the preservation problems of existing structures, as well as creating wonderful new structures fully integrated into their historic surroundings and timeline.
Where needed, we research and document the history of historic structures, and prepare assessment reports to aid Clients in developing preservation and restoration plans. This also may include tax credit assistance at the state and federal levels and assembly of HABS/HAER reports.
FHTC’s staff regularly collaborates with outside architectural and engineering consultants to guarantee a project can reach its full potential.
